Where is my data?

The most common question in a first conversation – and why data control comes before automation at Yura.

Where is my data? That is the question we are asked in almost every first conversation. Often right after the first “hello”. Before people want to know what Yura can do and what it costs.

No wonder. Our customers are medical practices, law firms, tax advisors, property managers and more. They handle patient records, client files, tax documents and tenant information. Nobody who works with data like that can simply try out a tool and hope for the best.

How we came to data protection

When we built Yura, one thing was clear from the start: the data stays in Germany. Not as a premium feature, not as an option for large customers, but for everyone.

That made some things harder. Certain features that we could have built straight away were ruled out from the beginning. But we did not want to have to explain later why patient records are processed on US servers.

What that looks like in practice

Yura runs in German data centres. With every customer we sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Your data is not used to train public AI models.

For customers who want to go one step further, Yura can also run on their own servers. In that case, your data never leaves your own premises.

And the integrations?

Yura connects with Outlook, Teams, WhatsApp and other services. That is practical and widely used by customers. But every integration is optional. You decide which channels you connect and which you don't. If, for example, you don't want to communicate with patients via WhatsApp, simply leave it out.

Nothing happens without your approval

Yura drafts replies and suggests appointments and tasks. But nothing is sent until you have approved it. Every draft is visible beforehand. And every action is logged, including the timestamp, the user and whether it was done manually or by the AI.

This matters especially for medical practices and law firms. If you want to know who did what and when, it is all in the log.

In summary

Yes, automation saves time. But if you don't know where your data has ended up, it is useless. For us, data control comes before automation. Not the other way round.
